Thanks to all who helped us again to send a container to SAGE HOSPITAL. At October the 22th we packed the container with urgently needed equipment and shipped it to Dakar. At 15th of November after nearly four weeks it finally arrived at SAGE HOSPITAL in Senegal.

During our last trip to SAGE HOSPITAL we organised a two day medical child examination (KinderUnterSuchung) for about 200 pupils of the school “Les Cajoutiers”. These children belong to the poorest population-layer in Senegal and all live in the villages surrounding SAGE Hospital.
For 80% of these children this visit to a doctor was a first time happening! They recieved a complete check- up and went through the following medical stations:
1. our pediatrist Dr. Labou
2. a dentist
3. an ophthalmologist
4. all children were given an “anti- parasite” treatment
5. all vaccinations were updated
6. necessary medication was given directlyat our Pharmacy at the SAGE Hospital
7. eventually reading glasses were distributed
This check might be beside their education at the school another small step into a – hopefully – better future.
This wounderful project was free of charge for the children and their families. It could only realised with the help and generous donation of all the friends and sponsors of SAGE Hospital e.V., who have always supported and trusted us in our actions. We would like to thank all of them who helped us make this happen.

The Sage Hospital e.V. again was invited by his protector the major of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit to present the project at the annual “Hoffest” in the city hall.
This year we showed an exhibition in cooperation with Marco Riedel from Room Division.
Together with the children of Warang we worked out some pictures with the theme “it’s in your hands” at our last trip to Senegal. They painted their thoughts about the relationship to the hospital. This was initiated to give them a feeling of partnership and responsibility for each other.
The result were 18 small pieces of art which we sold to interested guests. The profit will proceed directly to the project again.

Les Cajoutiers is an association in Warang/Senegal that helps children in difficulties to find a better future.
The schoolproject managed by Sophie Camara-Corynen from Belgium is a real succes. After three years the school counts already 180 students. In the two comming years, the school is expecting over 500 students, this means that in those two years the school has to expand and build six classes in 2011. The total costs are paid by privat sponsors.
At our last trip to Senegal the Sage Hospital supported the school with urgently needed equipment and material like paper, pens etc. And of course we brought some sweets for the kids…

In november (see below) we shipped a container with hospital equipment and consumer goods to the Sage Hospital in Senegal.
The school kids helped us to set up technical instruments and furniture. Our team did necessary repairings and installed a new webaccess.
Supported by Volunteers from the village we also painted all the walls so that the hospital looks fresh and prepared for the year to come.

In the morning of the 6th of november our group and the container reached the SAGE HOSPITAL in Warang, Senegal. During the autumn we collected needful things and shipped the container from berlin at the 6th of october.
We were very happy that everything we packed was still there. Thanks to our sponsors and partners we could transport about 30 m3 of urgently needed equipment, furniture and consumer goods.
Nearly half of the village came to see and help bringing the staff into the hospital. It was the beginning of a ten days work for nine members and friends of the SAGE HOSPITAL e.V.
Within the next weeks we will show you some image series of our visit and work and tell you some facts of the project which runs since 2003.

Durch die Unterstützung der Spedition ITG und zahlreicher Firmen und Privatspendern konnten wir heute den diesjährigen Container für das Krankenhaus beladen.
Vorausgegangen war ein halbjährlicher Marathon durch Behörden und Zoll. Zusammen kamen fast 30 Kubikmeter Hilfsgüter. Die Liste umfasst notwendige Technik und Ausstattung, wie Tische und Regale, Krankenbetten, Matratzen, drei Rollstühle und über 20 Paar Krücken, Medikamente, Verbandsmaterial, Infusionslösungen und Kanülen. Daneben Schulmaterial, wie Stifte, Papier und Schulranzen aber auch Kuscheltiere und 250 Wasserbälle für die Kleinsten.
Wir bedanken uns bei allen Unterstützern und Spendern, dem Packteam und allen, die uns auf diesem Wege begleitet haben.
Besonderer Dank gebührt den Firmen Otto Bock und BBraun, die die Lieferung unbürokratisch und praktisch in letzter Minute noch mit ihren Produkten vervollständigt haben.
Zum nunmehr vierten Mal war der Sage Hospital e.V. vom regierenden Berliner Bürgermeister Klaus Wowereit eingeladen worden, das Krankenhaus auf seinem alljährlichen Hoffest im roten Rathaus zu präsentieren.
Im Rahmen der vom Sage Club und Roomdivision ausgerichteten Aftershowparty im roten Rathaus wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Manteuffel Entertainment und diephotodesigner.de eine Infolounge eingerichtet, wo man sich über das Projekt und die Hintergründe informieren konnte.
Klaus Wowereit liess es sich als Schirmherr nicht nehmen, interessierten Gästen das Projekt persönlich zu erläutern. Wir bedanken uns sehr für dieses langjährige Engagement.

It was a successful night for Sage Hospital.
After 2 nights of building 180 people listened to the literary performance “Der ewige Brunnen” of Ben Becker and had a delicious meal. After the dessert the famous Band The BossHoss started the party with an unplugged live concert followed by the house dj Divinity. The ones who stayed longer than the rest had the chance to be part of a spontanous privat concert of Ben Becker and his old friend Yoyo Röhm.
In the end we got about 15.000 euros for the Sage Hospital. This money will help us to pay the costs until the end of the year and to bring necessary stuff to Senegal in October.

The Sage Hospital is located in the Senegal 80km south of Dakar.
Initiated by two stewardesses members and friends of the Sage Club Berlin and diephotodesigner.de founded the non-profit association Sage Hospital e.V. in 2003. They declared to support the hospital for 10 years.
Now the house is reconditioned for the second time and equiped with an ambulance, needed technik and consumer goods. The team of Dr. Amie Labou and 6 nurses care for about 700 patients per month. Beside this they especialliy care for babys and children. So there are born about 60 babys ervery year.
To generate money for this project the Sage Club in cooperation with diephotodesigner.de and Manteuffel Entertainment yearly organised charity events like partys, open-air & classical concerts and art exhibitons in Berlin and Hamburg. Further a lot of private people spend money and equipment for the project.
Only by the assistance of many people a permanent success and thus an assistance for local humans is possible.
Together with Branko May (./bin/branko.de) diephotodesigner.de concepted and designed the new website of the Sage Hospital. It shows informations about the project, the team and what happend in the last years. In more than 120 articles in three languages you can see about 780 pictures sorted by themes.
