Lean Oak Tables
Donnerstag, 17. November 2011

Lean Oak Tables are a result in shape of a set of tables after a quest for a lean production principle: with methods of traditional craftsmanship an oak leg is wedged to a hexagonal oak board to become a structural entity. Multiple entities, three at least, join to become a table. The slanted legs, chosen for structural reasons, create a table of which the single piece seems to lean against the others. The table is made from lokal oak, and has two different sizes to allow playful combinations.

Fuori Salone in Milan | Lamp Collection “Malva”
Mittwoch, 14. April 2010

diephotodesgner.de produced an image serie of the new lamp collection “Malva” for the presentation at the exhibition “Made in Berlin 2010″ during the actual design week in Milan.
ett la benn designed the lights inspired by the natural qualities of cellulose and viscose: The objects are generated by the forming of moistened sponge cloth and its subsequent hardening by air drying on a mould.
The translation of this customary material into individual design pieces through basic processes of forming and drying measures up to the highest demands in sustainability and eco friendliness: all objects are compostable.

Code Berlin – Postercontest
Sonntag, 06. September 2009

Since 2006, Berlin is Europe’s first and only »UNESCO-City of Design«. To promote the title CREATE BERLIN was looking for Berlin’s »CODE«. It stands for »City Of Design« and also for the visual key of Berlin.
300 Designers were invited to show their work at about 1000 different places in the city. The best results will be shown in an exhibition in the Bauhaus-Archiv/Museum in Berlin from 5th of September 2009. Later the 20 finalists works will travel to Montreal, Buenos Aires, Kobe/Nagoya and Shezen – the other UNESCO Citys of Design.
DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE and COORDINATION developed a series of three posters inscenating the multi faced design object Crystal City Mind.
Along typical scenes in the city it reflects in his surface parts of the view to all directions at the same time. This shows the variety of the city which has no unique “code”. Rather Berlin is characterised by its variety, its breaks and permanent change, without being however thereby racing or identityless.
Beside this there are two real codes in the poster: digital one and the classic navigation code to locate the places. So the lines arround the object stand for longitude and latitude and at the same time symbolise the network of the creative scene in Berlin.
On the posters one part of Crystal City Minds surface is covered with high polished steel thus acting as a mirror. It reflects the visitors and their surroundings and makes them become involved.

Crystal City Mind
Dienstag, 19. August 2008

Crystal City Mind is a multi-faceted design object made from high polished high grade steel and matte black surfaces. During the course of this summer COORDINATION and DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE toured the Berlin inner city with the sizable object, capturing impressions along the former Berlin Wall. The images developed thereby show how rapidly Berlin has evolved in the last 20 years, as living old and new congregate.
Charged with impressions of berlin, Crystal City Mind will now travel the world, radiating these impressions to the cities environment. Crystal City Mind communicates a message from europe’s most demanded city and in addition takes into consideration and mixed past and present. With this, the cooperative venture of COORDINATION and DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE is symbolic for that which makes the Berlin design scene so unique: The breaks and edges, the interlacing of giving and taking, the old and new, snazzy, charming but incomplete and the desire to constantly change to a different perspective.

Architektur muss brennen !
Dienstag, 01. May 2001

Architektur muss brennen!
In the 1980s Wolf D. Prix, Star architect and founder of the Austrian architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, postulated more power in contemporary architecture. His claim incited DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE to a different view upon the architecture of Berlin Potsdamer Platz and Alexanderplatz.
