Glasgow-born, Berlin-based designer Leigh Sachwitz’s Studio for Design flora&faunavisions GmbH has created a mesmerizing interactive experience called “Insideout” for the „Photography Playground“ at the Triennale der Photographie in Hamburg. It is a 360° multimedia installation that explores the house as a sanctuary and as a safe haven from nature’s many forces.

Inside the greenhouse-like illuminated installation, the viewer experiences nature’s many forces by hearing the rain and watching the dark clouds gather above, and when the protective walls disappear, the participant will feel exposed and vulnerable in the eye of the storm. But then, once the storm has passed, there is a feeling of purity and freshness, and an overall sense of calm envelopes the participant.

The visual installation is accompanied by sound design by the Berlin-based award-winning composer, musician and producer Andi Toma, one of the founding members of the electronic music collaboration Mouse on Mars.

On 28 October the “Perspective Playground“ has opened at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The art installations of this new exhibition is curated and produced by flora&faunavisions for the lead agency VITAMIN E – and the client OLYMPUS Europe. Installations from internationally renowned artists, included INSIDEOUT, transport you into a fascinating and playful world of art and science that spans several floors of this renowned Paris museum – one of the top 5 in the world for contemporary art, again photographed by Ken Schluchtmann who underlines the visual impact of the artworks.

Myanmar (former Burma) is one of the most rapidly changing countrys towards modernity in Asia in the world.
It is a coloured nation with more than 100 ethnic groups living here. Ken Schluchtmann travelled there together with the German author Martin Schacht who is specialised in this area of the world immortalizing, not only the landscape and the architecture but also its inhabitants.
On their last trip some weeks ago they travelled to the North, crossed the famous Gokteik viaduct by train and then went by boat for three days from Bhamom on the river Aeyarwaddy which is called “The road to Mandalay”, to the cultural capital of Myanmar.
A first glance of this journey is to be seen on “Travel episodes” by the German publisher Piper.

Eingedeckt! The work, the show, the party

It was a successful night for Sage Hospital.

After 2 nights of building 180 people listened to the literary performance „Der ewige Brunnen“ of Ben Becker and had a delicious meal. After the dessert the famous Band The BossHoss started the party with an unplugged live concert followed by the house dj Divinity. The ones who stayed longer than the rest had the chance to be part of a spontanous privat concert of Ben Becker and his old friend Yoyo Röhm.

In the end we got about 15.000 euros for the Sage Hospital. This money will help us to pay the costs until the end of the year and to bring necessary stuff to Senegal in October.

Many thanks to all guests, sponsors and the people who helped us running this project.

Sage Hospital – Senegal

Samstag, 17. April 2010

Senegal

The Sage Hospital is located in the Senegal 80km south of Dakar.

Initiated by two stewardesses members and friends of the Sage Club Berlin and diephotodesigner.de founded the non-profit association Sage Hospital e.V. in 2003. They declared to support the hospital for 10 years.

Now the house is reconditioned for the second time and equiped with an ambulance, needed technik and consumer goods. The team of Dr. Amie Labou and 6 nurses care for about 700 patients per month. Beside this they especialliy care for babys and children. So there are born about 60 babys ervery year.

To generate money for this project the Sage Club in cooperation with diephotodesigner.de and Manteuffel Entertainment yearly organised charity events like partys, open-air & classical concerts and art exhibitons in Berlin and Hamburg. Further a lot of private people spend money and equipment for the project.

Only by the assistance of many people a permanent success and thus an assistance for local humans is possible.

Destroyed Detroit

Samstag, 30. Januar 2010

090602_15_31_36

In 1943 and 1967 there were heavy race riots in Detroit. Mainly they were caused by financial differences between black and white, missing apartments and the brutality of the police. About 77 people were killed and more than 2000 houses were burned down. In the end the fights became so hard that the army had to intervene.
When Detroit got it’s first black major in 1970 nearly all white citizens left the district and moved behind the 8th mile. They left a broken city which looks like a ghost town in many areas. The mostly black people who still stayed in the departments round the inner city had no jobs and no perspectives. The drug scene became one of the biggest in the USA and the criminality is extremely high.
1977 the Ford Motor Company built the Renaissance Center and tried to revitalise the city. But not at least because of the actual crisis spring in Detroit seems far away.

Volkswagen Project Fox

Freitag, 01. April 2005

0503 project fox

For the presentation of the new Volkswagen Fox the former agency Eventlabs (now Nest One) created a very special event in Copenhagen.

They invited various international artists to redesign a complete hotel with 67 rooms.
At the same time they built a temporary club in an old warehouse at the harbour an ran it for four weeks with daily dinner, concerts and dj’s.
The third location was an old hall where they installed a gallery. 7 teams of artists used each each a real car for an art installation.
