„Inside Out“ – Palais de Tokyo Paris, Triennale der Photographie Hamburg

Montag, 02. November 2015

090602_15_31_36

Glasgow-born, Berlin-based designer Leigh Sachwitz’s Studio for Design flora&faunavisions GmbH has created a mesmerizing interactive experience called “Insideout” for the „Photography Playground“ at the Triennale der Photographie in Hamburg. It is a 360° multimedia installation that explores the house as a sanctuary and as a safe haven from nature’s many forces.

Inside the greenhouse-like illuminated installation, the viewer experiences nature’s many forces by hearing the rain and watching the dark clouds gather above, and when the protective walls disappear, the participant will feel exposed and vulnerable in the eye of the storm. But then, once the storm has passed, there is a feeling of purity and freshness, and an overall sense of calm envelopes the participant.

The visual installation is accompanied by sound design by the Berlin-based award-winning composer, musician and producer Andi Toma, one of the founding members of the electronic music collaboration Mouse on Mars.

On 28 October the “Perspective Playground“ has opened at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The art installations of this new exhibition is curated and produced by flora&faunavisions for the lead agency VITAMIN E – and the client OLYMPUS Europe. Installations from internationally renowned artists, included INSIDEOUT, transport you into a fascinating and playful world of art and science that spans several floors of this renowned Paris museum – one of the top 5 in the world for contemporary art, again photographed by Ken Schluchtmann who underlines the visual impact of the artworks.

Exhibition “Architecture and Landscape in Norway”

Mittwoch, 01. Juli 2015

090602_15_31_36

Germany’s biggest folk, roots and world music festival and one of Europe’s biggest and most important festival of its kind has its 25th anniversary.

As Norway is the focus land at TFF Rudolstadt Ken Schluchtmann was asked to exhibit his awarded photographies “Architecture and Landscape in Norway”. Ken Schluchtmann’s photographic study of the National Routes of Norway is all about the majestic landscape of Norway, highlighted and reinforced by the architecture dotting the tourist routes used to explore this magnificent Scandinavian country: a fantastic add-on to the huge musical offer focussing on folk music where more than 150 musicians and musical groups will share their music with fans arriving from all over the world.

In Friday 3 July 2015 at 12 AM at the Heidecksburg castle there will be the opening of the exhibition with Ken Schluchtmann, talking with Dr. Kai-Uwe Schierz, honorary professor for contemporary art and exhibition at the Bauhaus University Erfurt and director of the art museums of the city of Erfurt. The event will be framed by the performance of acclaimed Norwegian violinist Gjermund Larsen.

After Wolfsburg and Beirut you can admire Ken’s artwork in Rudolstadt in an exhibition that tells the story of the power of nature, where the action of man – architecture – underscores the magic of landscape.

Essay for “Architecture on the Web. A critical approach to communication”

Montag, 15. Dezember 2014

090602_15_31_36

“The Value of the Image” is the title of the contribution architectural photographer Ken Schluchtmann has written for “Architecture on the Web. A critical approach to communication”, edited by Paolo Schianchi. A book which deals with the communication of architecture in the web era where the image has become an object. Photographers are fundamental to this new way of communication, because they are the ones with the tough task of displaying the content of the architect’s work.

11. Berliner Hoffest von Klaus Wowereit

Donnerstag, 30. Juni 2011

090602_15_31_36

The Sage Hospital e.V. again was invited by his protector the major of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit to present the project at the annual „Hoffest“ in the city hall.

This year we showed an exhibition in cooperation with Marco Riedel from Room Division.

Together with the children of Warang we worked out some pictures with the theme „it’s in your hands“ at our last trip to Senegal. They painted their thoughts about the relationship to the hospital. This was initiated to give them a feeling of partnership and responsibility for each other.

The result were 18 small pieces of art which we sold to interested guests. The profit will proceed directly to the project again.

There are still some pictures left. If you are interested please contact Marco at marco@roomdivision.com

Les Cajoutiers Senegal

Donnerstag, 24. Februar 2011

090602_15_31_36

Les Cajoutiers is an association in Warang/Senegal that helps children in difficulties to find a better future.

The schoolproject managed by Sophie Camara-Corynen from Belgium is a real succes. After three years the school counts already 180 students. In the two comming years, the school is expecting over 500 students, this means that in those two years the school has to expand and build six classes in 2011. The total costs are paid by privat sponsors.

At our last trip to Senegal the Sage Hospital supported the school with urgently needed equipment and material like paper, pens etc. And of course we brought some sweets for the kids…

Eingedeckt! The work, the show, the party

Donnerstag, 20. Mai 2010

090602_15_31_36

It was a successful night for Sage Hospital.

After 2 nights of building 180 people listened to the literary performance „Der ewige Brunnen“ of Ben Becker and had a delicious meal. After the dessert the famous Band The BossHoss started the party with an unplugged live concert followed by the house dj Divinity. The ones who stayed longer than the rest had the chance to be part of a spontanous privat concert of Ben Becker and his old friend Yoyo Röhm.

In the end we got about 15.000 euros for the Sage Hospital. This money will help us to pay the costs until the end of the year and to bring necessary stuff to Senegal in October.

Many thanks to all guests, sponsors and the people who helped us running this project.

Code Berlin – Postercontest

Sonntag, 06. September 2009

090602_15_31_36

Since 2006, Berlin is Europe’s first and only »UNESCO-City of Design«. To promote the title CREATE BERLIN was looking for Berlin’s »CODE«. It stands for »City Of Design« and also for the visual key of Berlin.

300 Designers were invited to show their work at about 1000 different places in the city. The best results will be shown in an exhibition in the Bauhaus-Archiv/Museum in Berlin from 5th of September 2009. Later the 20 finalists works will travel to Montreal, Buenos Aires, Kobe/Nagoya and Shezen – the other UNESCO Citys of Design.

DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE and COORDINATION developed a series of three posters inscenating the multi faced design object Crystal City Mind.

Along typical scenes in the city it reflects in his surface parts of the view to all directions at the same time. This shows the variety of the city which has no unique „code“. Rather Berlin is characterised by its variety, its breaks and permanent change, without being however thereby racing or identityless.

Beside this there are two real codes in the poster: digital one and the classic navigation code to locate the places. So the lines arround the object stand for longitude and latitude and at the same time symbolise the network of the creative scene in Berlin.

On the posters one part of Crystal City Minds surface is covered with high polished steel thus acting as a mirror. It reflects the visitors and their surroundings and makes them become involved.

Crystal City Mind

Dienstag, 19. August 2008

01_080825_19_11_41

Crystal City Mind is a multi-faceted design object made from high polished high grade steel and matte black surfaces. During the course of this summer COORDINATION and DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE toured the Berlin inner city with the sizable object, capturing impressions along the former Berlin Wall. The images developed thereby show how rapidly Berlin has evolved in the last 20 years, as living old and new congregate.

Charged with impressions of berlin, Crystal City Mind will now travel the world, radiating these impressions to the cities environment. Crystal City Mind communicates a message from europe’s most demanded city and in addition takes into consideration and mixed past and present. With this, the cooperative venture of COORDINATION and DIEPHOTODESIGNER.DE is symbolic for that which makes the Berlin design scene so unique: The breaks and edges, the interlacing of giving and taking, the old and new, snazzy, charming but incomplete and the desire to constantly change to a different perspective.
